Texas State Football player shot and killed in believed drug deal gone wrong marijuana

The City of San Marcos is investigating its third murder of the year, and officials say the victim is Texas State University football player Khambrail Winters. It’s believed the shooting is drug-related. Winters was shot in the chest and died at the scene.

Police reports say they were called to the Lodge around 9:13pm Tuesday. Someone had reported multiple gunshots and several people running from the area where the gun shot were heard.

Upon arrival, Police found the wounded Winters and immediately tried to save his life. Hays County EMS Medics also arrived and tried the same but to no avail.

SMPD Detectives have spoken with witnesses and learned, Winters along with two others Enalisa Blackman, 20, and Michael Ifeanacho, 20, planned to buy a few ounces of marijuana. The drug deal was set up at the apartment complex where Blackman met two other people for the buy.

During the deal, Winters was shot, and now Both Blackman and Ifeanacho both face Capital murder charges. Investigators are still on the hunt for the two other people involved in the drug deal.
