The amount of money spent on Austin's homeless continues to climb

Last year it was $25-million, and the new proposed budget includes an additional $3.1-million.  Housing is one of the largest aspects of homeless funding, with more than $11-million going toward that one issue alone last year.  And mayor pro tem Kathie Tovo is wondering if even more needs to be spent for housing.

On top of that issue, homeless spending may also include an extra $1-million to cleanup waste and filth left behind by campsites in creeks and streams.
