Cleaning up the camps around waterways is only one part of the plan. The Watershed Department will also be spending time trying to educate some of the homeless about things such as proper campfire maintenance so they don’t burn down their tent, or spark a wildfire.
That awareness campaign is part of a secondary six-month contract, which he says will likely need an extension because there is simply so much education that needs to be provided at these camps.
