The feral hog population in the Austin area keeps growing

In Northwest Austin feral hogs are a menace. Dozens have been seen even during the day around Walnut Creek. County Extension Agent Noel Troxclair said they’re concerned, especially since hogs have been seen near kids at bus stops.

Although some counties like Caldwell have a bounty program, Troxclair said live trapping works better. Male hogs are sent to hunting ranches while female hogs are slaughtered.
