Magnets have been a hot debate of late, and now there are calls to revamp the way AISD makes those campuses available to kids in East Austin. Attorney Jim Harrington said East Austin is different than the rest of the city and therefore should be given a leg up through guaranteed admission for the top 5{aa9caffa644258a599ddb3264218e24eec8363703cab13abe150972be8fbf3af} of each east Austin campus.
Harrington said East Austin students shouldn’t be subjected to the same online applications as required of West Austin students.
