The return of Austin’s Camping ban is delayed

Austin City Hall

Officially, Austin’s Camping ban takes effect May 11th. But Austin City Manager Spencer Cronk explains you shouldn’t expect to see  any enforcement of the ban by May 11th.

That is because City Council approved a resolution that clears the way for the city manager to designate a homeless camp site in each City Council district.

So, instead of enforcing the ban, Cronk says the focus will be educating campers on the rules and helping them find options until the city-approved campsites are in place.
