The tallest building in Austin is an architectural wonder, except for the top

A group of Austin residents think the top of the new Independent Building, also known as the Jenga building is not too pleasing to look at.

Some say the top or crown of the building looks like someone put a chain link fence around an air conditioner. Ben Anstead started a website called fix the crown.org and a moveon.org petition to go with it.

Though not an architect himself, Anstead said his research shows the crown surrounds technology designed to keep the building from swaying uncomfortably.

The Independent is the tallest building in Austin and the tallest residential building west of the Mississippi.
