Travis County Commissioners’ liason to the legislature Deece Eckstein explained to Commissioners an aspect of the revenue caps bill the Senate is discussing. “Under the bill, if you plan to adopt a tax rate that will exceed the rollback rate of 2.5{a77561a3d577901ee15dca150fea59fe3467aeb2007c1dd097ee2f4c696e6096}, you must adopt it by August15th.” He said the bill would also calls for centralizing control and oversight of appraisal districts in the comptrollers office.
That would back up the county’s budgeting process said Eckstein, meanwhile the county will likely pass a resolution denouncing the property tax revenue caps as harmful to the county.
