Rental relief applications are being expedited now in Travis County as the eviction moratorium nears its end.
Officials are optimistic they will be sending out a new round of federal COVID funding by early next month. County Commissioner Jeff Travillion calls it an investment in homelessness prevention. “If this is going to allow us to build the system to bring the strategic resources in place, I think that is a very good use of the dollars we’ve been given.”
Travis County officials say priority will be given to people who are five or more months behind in rent.
The moratorium expires on Tuesday.
