President Donald Trump is making a short visit to Austin on Wednesday to tour Apple’s facility that will assemble and produce the new Mac Pro computer. The president will also reportedly meet with Apple CEO Tim Cook during his visit.
President Trump will be joined by Economic Advosor Larry Kudlow, Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin, son-in-law Jared Kushner, and daughter Ivanka.
In September, Apple announced its plan to continue to produce the Mac Pro in the United States. The company had been planning to shift operations to Asia, but was swayed by exemptions on proposed Chinese tariffs.
The president is expected to land at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport in Air Force One at 1:20 p.m. By 1:30, the presidential motorcade should be making its way to Apple. Due to safety concerns, the Secret Service does not specify the exact route. TxDOT officials say there will be rolling closures.
President Trump will leave Austin at 3:45 p.m.
