The Texas Department of Transportation will conduct a public hearing to discuss proposed mobility and safety improvements at I-35 and Williams Drive on Thursday, Nov. 8, 2018 at Georgetown High School, located at 2211 North Austin Avenue in Georgetown, Texas.
The hearing will begin with an open house at 6 p.m. followed by a formal presentation at 6:30 p.m. A public comment session will be held after the presentation.
The proposed project would reconstruct the Williams Drive interchange at I-35 to a diverging diamond intersection, construct north and southbound intersection bypass lanes under the Williams Drive bridge, extend the northbound I-35 frontage road from Williams Drive to the Lakeway Drive exit ramp, improve the existing I-35 southbound frontage road, construct a northbound bypass lane on Austin Avenue at Williams Drive, and improve bicycle and pedestrian paths along the I-35 frontage roads.
The environmental study and schematic/design development process for the $70 million project began in fall 2015 and is anticipated to be complete in mid-2019. If approved, construction could begin in late 2020.
The maps, drawings, and other project information will be on display at the hearing. Comments from the public are requested. Those unable to attend the hearing in person can visit the virtual public hearing atwww.mobility35publichearing.com to provide comments beginning Nov. 8.
