The Texas Department of Transportation will hold a virtual public meeting with an in-person option to share proposed plans to widen and enhance safety and mobility on RM 1826 from US 290 to SH 45.

The proposed project would widen RM 1826 from US 290 to SH 45, with construction extending to the Travis/Hays County line. The proposed 4.4 mile project would reduce congestion, improve mobility and safety, and enhance different modes of travel along RM 1826 to meet future traffic demand. The proposed project would widen an undivided two-lane roadway to a divided four-lane roadway, with dedicated left-turn lanes and a raised median. Shared-use paths would be constructed to accommodate bicyclists and pedestrians.

The virtual public hearing will consist of a pre-recorded presentation that will include both audio and visual components. Materials will be posted online by 5 p.m. on Thursday, March 7, 2024. Additionally, TxDOT will provide an in-person option where attendees will be able to view the presentation, review hard copies of the project materials, ask questions of TxDOT staff, and leave written comments. Comments can be submitted at the in-person meeting, online, or by mail. More information can be found at www.TxDOT.gov keyword search “RM 1826 from US 290 to SH 45.”

The in-person option will be held on Thursday, March 7, 2024, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Oak Hill United Methodist Church, Fellowship Hall, 7815 US 290, Austin, TX, 78736.
