Burnet CISD Superintendent Keith McBurnet said vaping in schools is a growing problem in the nation and sees the numbers on the rise of students caught vaping on campus. So he is upping the ante in terms of punishments.
1st time offense is a 5 day in school suspension.
2nd time offenders will see 10 days of in school sustention. McBurnet said they’ll also be working with their School Resource Officer on referring the student and parents on actual class C misdemeanor charges.
McBurnet told Newsradio KLBJ’s Mark and Melynda Show they’ve already started confiscating vamping devices this year. Along with that they have started testing what’s inside the devices as it can be nicotine or even concentrated forms of THC, which is found in marijuana.
