Next week, the Austin City Council may approve a $13.6-million plan to repair and reinforce a 30-foot-tall slope along Shoal Creek that collapsed last year, and suffered even more damage again this year.
Watershed Department engineer Mike Kelly said if something isn’t done soon, it won’t just be backyards that are affected, but also could be a potential hazard to private infrastructure.
The slope failed a second time last month. Kelly says they need the city council to approve more than $13-million in contracts. If approved, the project should take about six months.
