There is a growing question of where Austin’s trash will go beginning next month. The city’s contract with Waste Management ends on February 28, but the council has opted not to approve an emergency extension. Council member Natasha Harper-Madison says she’s opposed because it’s an equity issue.
But if the city doesn’t make a decision soon, there will be nowhere to put the trash. An emergency meeting may be called this week.
