Affordability and homelessness are topics that are often discussed in Travis County and Austin, but Williamson County has its own similar problems. But thanks to a $1.5-million federal block grant, the county’s community development coordinator Sally Bardwell said those issues, and a whole lot more, will be addressed.
Consultant Marjorie Willow said the money will be spread across more than a dozen programs dealing with issues that include: various affordable housing projects over the next four years, as well as to address the needs of the county’s homeless population.
And between now and 2023, the block grant will also beef up the county’s inventory of low-income housing.
