A 911 call in Rural Williamson County leads to the arrest of suspected Gasoline thief. Sheriff Robert Chody explained when Deputies rolled into the City of Thrall, they noticed a white panel van near a gas station with its windows painted over and ducktape covering its license plate. The deputies pulled the van over and inside discovered an elaborate system of tubes, pipes and tanks laden with what they estimate to be $800 in stolen gas with room for more.
Chody believes the system was made to siphon out gas from a station’s underground storage tank, while the business was closed for the night.
They believe the suspect may have been involved in other cases of gas theft and are investigating. Chody says the van had the capacity to hold a few hundred gallons. Adding, they are investigating whether the man behind the wheel was involved in similar crimes elsewhere.
