Zebra mussels are showing up in droves inside some cities’ water lines.
Leander city engineer Wayne Watts says they’re multiplying in the pump and he says it’s only a matter of time until they’ve clogged up the lines and created an even more expensive problem. He says it’s not a cheap solution, but spending money now means — hopefully — less money down the road.
But this is a problem also affecting Cedar Park and Round Rock so, all combined between the three cities, fighting back against the zebra mussel spread will cost nearly $1.5-million.
