Two more Central Texas lakes have been hit by invasive zebra mussels
Monica McGarrity says they’re in Lake Marble Falls, and the reason, she believes, is because they were transported upstream to Lake LBJ, allowing their larvae to float freely in the water.
Zebra mussels are now also being found in Granger Lake. Since 2009 when the mussels were first discovered in Lake Texoma, the population has exploded to 29 water bodies across five different river basins. McGarrity says they clog intake pipes, damage boats, and can cover shorelines leaving swimmers vulnerable to some nasty cuts.
