Starbucks sparked a backlash after it was revealed the company will not allow employees to wear Black Lives Matter clothing or accessories. The company cited it’s policy prohibiting political attire. Moreover, they said it was necessary to create a safe and welcoming environment for all customers. According to the story this morning, many in the Twitterverse have expressed their disgust over the policy calling for a boycott of the coffee chain.
Starbucks switches sides
Soon after the backlash online, Starbucks changed their stance on the issue. Black Lives Matter t-shirts co-designed by The Starbucks Black Partner Network were sent out to employees in U.S. and Canada. However, many online users question the authenticity of the change.

Starbucks has been known to get political over the years
In the past, Starbucks has shut down for an entire day for a variety of issues. Meanwhile, people in the Twitterverse have since pointed out that despite the “no politics” policy, the company has promoted LGBTQ pride. In short, they do have the right to support what they want to support and you, as a customer, have a right to say whether not you want to support Starbucks or not.
