Both the Williamson and Bastrop County Judges are voicing their eagerness to reopen bars Wednesday, following Governor Greg Abbott’s announcement.
Don’t expect Williamson County to wait around to reopen its bars next week. Judge Bill Gravell says the county has shown it can be responsible in how the people protect themselves, and he wants Williamson to be among the first counties in the state to unlock its bar doors.
After initially expressing some hesitation over the prospect of reopening bars, Bastrop County Judge Paul Pape now says he’s on board with that plan. Pape had to seek out some legal opinions after the governor made the announcement. But now, Pape says he will authorize Bastrop bars to open up at 50% beginning Wednesday.
