Texas Democrats petition the US Supreme Court to allow all Texans to vote by mail during the pandemic. The highest court is their last chance.
Two weeks ago a Federal Appeals Court sided with Texas and blocked a lower court ruling that would have allowed all Texans to vote by mail, regardless of age. The Texas Democratic Party has now appealed to Supreme Court Justice Alito to life that stay and is asking the entire Court to rule on their case. The Texas Democratic Party’s General Counsel Chad Dunn said, “Texas’ restriction of vote by mail based on age, is itself an outlier.” He explained, there are only 8 states that still restrict vote by mail for older Americans.
Texas Law currently only allows those 65 and older to vote by mail without an excuse.
