A dedicated police department for the Round Rock school district is still in the discussion phase. The latest task force recommendation calls for training on things like institutional racism and mental health, and that any safety strategy that is put in place be regularly evaluated by a third-party committee. Critics of a police department claim non-white students would be punished far more often for minor offenses.
