#1 in 2022 Class, QB Quinn Ewers Decommits From UT
Just as recently as last Thursday, the Longhorns #1 recruit for 2022, QB Quinn Ewers said he was still “100 percent” committed to Texas. A week later… he has decommitted from Texas.
Ewers cites Covid-19 as one of the main reasons for doing so. Ewers had this to say on Twitter:
— Quinn Ewers (@QuinnEwers) October 29, 2020
“Given the COVID-19 pandemic facing us, this has been a challenging year for all students like myself. With the support of my family, I tried to navigate the recruiting process the best way I could.”
Ewers also said that he did not go through the recruiting process thoroughly enough, and would like to reassess before making his final decision.
Ohio State and Alabama have been rumored to be making at run at Ewers, Ohio State is said to be the leader of the bunch.
It seems like he has not yet closed the door on the Longhorns. But it sure sounds like a longshot after anyone decommits from any school. Time will tell, Longhorn fans. But this news is a real bummer during an already odd 2020 season.
