Jason Witten to Retire, Will Sign a One-Day Contract With Cowboys
38-year-old Jason Witten has announced he will retire from the NFL after 17 seasons.
Witten was a 3rd round pick back in 2003 and became one of the best TE’s in NFL history, playing in 271 total games, 255 of those games with the Cowboys, starting 244 games. He made 11 Pro Bowls and was the 2012 Walter Payton Man of the Year.
He ends his Cowboys career as the all-time leader in yards (12,977), receptions (1,215) and is 2nd in team history in touchdown catches with 72.
With the Raiders, Witten had 13 catches for 69 yards. But his mentorship will be his greatest takeaway with the Raiders.
