Report: Urban Meyer Will Not Return to Coaching
Multiple reports Sunday night say that Urban Meyer has indeed turned down Texas’ offer to coach the Longhorn Football team.
So if there are changes to the coaching staff next season, Urban Meyer (for now) has been crossed off the list. And at this point, the options of an upgrade from Tom Herman looks slim to none.
Urban Meyer cited health issues as reasoning for leaning towards not returning to coaching. He has been a College Football analyst for Fox Sports since he retired from coaching in 2018.
Tom Herman is under contract until 2023, so it seems much more sensible to keep him for at least another year, also his $15 million dollar buyout does not look very enticing to a University while in a pandemic.
Chris Del Conte has said he will evaluate all things at the end of the season, so unless something crazy happens, we will patiently (not) wait until after the season to see what unfolds.
