Scottie Scheffler Withdraws from US Open
Due to a positive Covid-19 test result, the Rookie of the Year contender was forced to withdraw from the U.S. Open.
USGA regulations stated that before the tournament, all players must take an in-home test before travelling to New York. Scheffler will stay in Dallas where he took his test. He is Asymptomatic.
The PGA had gone 6-weeks of zero positive tests before Scheffler’s results. Ironically the last player to test positive for Covid-19, Branden Grace, from South Africa, will be the player who will replace Scheffler in the Open Tournament.
Scottie last played in the U.S. Open as a low Amateur in 2017.
Sadly, Scottie Scheffler is not the only player to withdraw due to a positive Covid test. Sam Horsfield, who won a spot in the Open Tournament by winning the European Tour’s UK Series.
Sam Horsfield has withdrawn from the 120th U.S. Open due to a positive COVID-19 test.
“Sam had an excellent year, winning the @EuropeanTour's UK series to earn a spot. We are disappointed to lose a player of his caliber from the U.S. Open field,” said the USGA's John Bodenhamer. pic.twitter.com/EcFIVqMGso

On a lighter note! Michael O’Keefe, the actor who played “Noonan” on ‘Caddyshack’, will caddy for Danny Balin the first two days of the practice rounds. He is even wearing the famous Bushwood CC hat!
O’Keefe grew up not too far from Winged Foot, where he caddied as a teenager in the 70’s. He penned a letter to Golf.com asking to be allowed to caddy this week, and there he is!
NOONAN! Check it out — actor Michael O’Keefe (Danny Noonan from Caddyshack) is on the bag for Monday and Tuesday practice rounds at the U.S. Open for NY PGA Professional Danny Balin. Nice touch with the Bushwood CC hat, too. pic.twitter.com/0pVLPAfv13
