Fayette County Dep. shot trying to serve a warrant

Police do not cross tape

A Fayette County Deputy was shot in the face after he tried to serve a warrant Thursday evening. Deputy Calvin, “CJ”, Lehmann, a single father to three girls, was sent in critical condition to Dell Seton Medical Center after the incident. LaGrange Police Chief David Gilbreath said it started as deputies tried to serve a felony warrant on a known sex offender, but the man pulled a knife and cut one of them, and then barricaded himself in a motel room for hours.

Gilbreath said that the subject then started shooting at the officers, with one officer (Lehmann) being shot and in critical condition and the subject is in custody at this time.

The Sheriff’s office said that Lehmann has already lost one eye and doctors are working to save the other. The name of the alleged shooter is not yet known.
