A bill that allows hunters to kill feral hogs with impunity awaits Governor Greg Abbott’s signature. State Senator Bryan Hughes of Mineola’s bill sailed through the Senate and House.
Hughes told KLTV this would help a huge expensive problem throughout the state. “You don’t need a hunting license and there’s no season. These hogs are so aggressive and so harmful you’re basically doing a service when you dispose of them.” If Gov. Abbot does sign off on the bill it’ll go into effect September 1st.
An estimated two million feral hogs cause hundreds of millions of dollars in property damage every year in Texas.
