- AISD’s School Board approves the hiring of the district’s first equity officer
- Stephanie Hawley has been named to fill the position
- The position is intended to help make schools more equitable and ensure low-income students and students of color do well academically
- Hawley will address the gap in test scores between students of color and their peers and take a look at staffing, budget, academic programs and communications between families and the district
- She will also help the district gather information to decide on closures, consolidations and changes to schools
