- The Austin Police Department current cadet program had the most women start the class than ever before
- Out of 71 cadets who started in the current class, 23 were women
- The class before had the second most female recruits with 17 starting
- Out of the current approximate 1,800 officers, 350 are women
- APD made changes in recent years like adding more pictures of women doing the job on their website and adding a female officer to their recruiting division
- Officials hope these recent cadet classes will inspire more women to join the force
