- The car dealership, Chatom Ford, a dealership in Chatom, in Alabama is giving away a Bible, a 12-gauge shotgun and an American flag with the purchase of any new or used vehicle
- To receive the shotgun, a customer must purchase a vehicle. They will then receive a certificate to be taken to an arms dealer who will conduct a background check. If it clears, they will get the gun free of charge with the presentation of a bill of sale from the car
- The giveaway is part of its Fourth of July sales promotion called the “God, Guns and Freedom” campaign
- The dealership’s general manager Koby Palmer said the sales team came up with the promotion to align with the town and its values
- Palmer said, “It’s a safe community. They’re very proud of their country and almost everybody here likes to hunt.”
- He also said the campaign is meant to be patriotic, not political.
- Customers do not have to accept the additional giveaways if they want to purchase a car
