Changes to Austin Land Development Code

  • A newly released draft of the plan to overhaul Austin’s land development code aims to improve affordable living.
  • Austin City staff explain that this new proposal would offer “market driven” style incentives to developers for building a greater density of limited-income housing units.
  • City staff says these incentives could help increase affordable housing development six fold.
  • This proposal is ultimately up to a City Council vote, which is not likely to happen until December.
