- The House of Representatives passed the Stopping Bad Robocalls Act which would affect robocalls
- In a 429-3 vote, the House measure requires carriers to implement technology that would verify whether calls are authentic or not and requires the Federal Communication Commission to raise the penalty for illegal robocallers from $1,500 per violation to $10,000 per violation
- The Senate passed a similar measure this year called the Telephone Robocall Abuse Criminal Enforcement and Deterrence Act
- Both the House and Senate are working together to have legislation for the president to sign before 2020
