Monday 4-14

UT officials are speaking out against local prosecutors after a man was arrested and released from jail three times for assaulting multiple UT students, there’s been at least half a dozen reports in Williamson County over the past month of attempted kidnappings and the Austin City Council has approved an extension of funding to the Austin Police Department’s Auto Burglary & Theft Interdiction Project.

 

Tuesday 4-15 

The cause of a massive explosion in northwest Austin is still under investigation as those affected struggle with getting assistance from their insurance companies, state legislators are pushing for sawed off shotguns to be legal and the primary race between John Cornyn & Ken Paxton is starting to heat up.

 

Wednesday 4-16

The Texas Senate has passed a bill that would ban cell phones in schools, teacher union officials are accusing the Texas Education Agency’s school ratings system as being flawed for why Dobie Middle School may be shut down and Maryland Sen. Chris Van Hollen will travel to El Salvador in an effort to get Kilmar Abrego Garcia released.

 

Thursday 4-17 

Teachers unions are responding unhappily to the school voucher bill that cleared the Texas House, Austin’s city auditor has shared data that shows vacancies in the city’s police department continue to grow and Austin’s Homeless Strategy Office is touting progress when it comes to its H.E.A.L. initiative.

Friday 4-18 

Demolition crews have started work on tearing down the current Austin Convention Center, the Austin Downtown Commission is looking for more partnerships & philanthropy to address the homeless issue and Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is suing the city of Dallas again over gun rights.
