The Hays County Commissioners Court officially supports financial relief for property owners.
County Judge Ruben Becerra said they will push Texas lawmakers to help in the corona crisis. They want to see property appraisals retooled, allowing appraisal districts to rollback values to the current or previous year’s valuation — whichever is lowest.
The Court is asking for a moratorium on all property tax penalties and interest, an extension of the deadline for tax payments, and an update to the Property Tax Code through a special session.
