Man accused of plotting the death of his father appears in court today

The man accused of plotting the death of his father is in court today. 19-year-old Nicholas Shaughnessy and his wife Jaclyn Edison are both charged with solicitation of the murder of Austin area jeweler Ted Shaughnessy.

Nicholas Patrick Shaughnessy, 19, and his girlfriend, Jaclyn Alexa Edison, 19, were charged in May in connection to the murder of Theodore Shaughnessy, the owner of Gallerie Jewelers located off of 35th Street and Jefferson in Central Austin.

According to investigators, began with a 911 call on March 2 made by Theodore Shaughnessy’s wife, Corey, who reported that someone had broken into their home shortly before 5:00 a.m. and began shooting.  By the time police arrived, Theodore Shaughnessy was dead and the intruder was gone.  It’s believed Shaughnessy did not go down without a fight, however.  Details from the crime scene indicate the attacker may have left with a gunshot wound.
