New Orleans Pelicans point guard Dejounte Murray will miss extended time after suffering a fractured hand in his first regular-season game for the Pelicans, who beat the Chicago Bulls 123-111 on Wednesday night at Smoothie King Center (per ESPN’s Shams Charania).

New Orleans officially announced on Thursday that Murray will be out indefinitely after suffering the fracture. Pelicans guard CJ McCollum said that Murray stayed in the game after mentioning that his hand was bothering him in the fourth quarter: “Hopefully, he’s not out too long … He looked at me and said his hand didn’t feel right, He just continued to play. … He battled through, he played and played well considering those circumstances.”

The former All-Star, who was traded to the Pelicans by the Atlanta Hawks, finished off the game with 14 points, 10 assists, and eight rebounds.
