Overcrowding crisis going on now at the Austin Animal Shelter

The Shelter’s Lee Ann Shenefiel said that’s because they took in nearly 150 more dogs and cats than usual. She couldn’t say what caused the spike but calls on pet owners to come get them. She says all you need is some sort of ID, vet record or even a photo with your pet to prove it’s yours.

They’re seeking fosters as well. Through this weekend Austin Animal Shelter on Levander Loop is waiving adoption fees to clear out space at the no-kill shelter.
