The researchers produced an enzyme doesn’t kill cancer cells but empowers the immune system to eradicate unwanted cells on its own. UT Professor Everett Stone said cancer cells produce a metabolite called Kynurenine which suppreses the immune system and lets cancers spread.
Stone says this treatment wouldn’t work for all cancers but it would for ones like lung cancer.
