APD makes arrest in connection to a trio of shootings in S Austin

UPDATE: 2:00pm

The man who Austin Police say is linked to a series of shootings in South Austin and the murder of a man at an apartment complex on South Lamar tried to buy a gun suppressor the day before the shootings began. Authorities say 29-year-old Charles Curry was denied that supressor because he was acting strangely.

Austin police say they’ve arrested a former temp employee of State Senator Joan Huffman for yesterday’s shooting spree. APD Assistant Chief Joseph Chacon says 29-year-old Charles Curry shot at 4 random victims striking one in the head. He also said that she was in the car with her three kids and the bullet wound was not fatal.

Chacon says Curry is also being accused of Monday’s murder of a south Austin man, he explains tests on one of Curry’s guns showed it was the same weapon. Curry worked for Huffman from November of 2016 to May of 2017.
