Voters decide this fall on an efficiency audit of the Austin City Council

Council member Ellen Troxclair’s attempts to force a council vote on an efficiency audit of governmental operations fails, as does an amendment proposed to clear up the ballot language.  Travis County GOP Chariman Matt Mackowiak said the ballot language is intentionally vague and misleading because the mayor and council don’t want to be audited.

Voters will have to choose whether or not the city council should be audited, but critics, including the Travis County GOP, claim the ballot language is written in a way that will intentionally confuse the voter into voting no.

Ellen Troxclair has found no support on the dais for her proposals to either clean up the language or just take a council vote outright.  The GOP will file that lawsuit within three days.
